Folding International Standard

In the early stage of container transportation, the structure and specifications of containers are different.

Container
It affects the international circulation of containers. It is urgent to formulate international general standards for containers in order to facilitate the development of container transportation. Container standardization can not only improve the versatility and interchangeability of container as a common transport unit in sea, land and air transport, but also improve the safety and economy of container transport and promote the development of international container multimodal transport. At the same time, the standardization of containers also provides the basis for the selection, design and manufacture of container transport tools and handling machinery, thus making container transport a complementary, specialized and efficient transportation system. Container standards can be divided into four categories: international standards, national standards, regional standards and company standards.

It refers to the international standard containers constructed and used in accordance with the international standards formulated by the 104th Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Container standardization has undergone a development process. ISO/TC104 Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC104) has been established since 1961.

International Standard Containers

The international standards for containers have been supplemented, increased, decreased and revised many times. The current international standards are 13 types of the first series, which have the same width (2438 mm), four lengths (12192 mm, 9125 mm, 6058 mm, 2991 mm), and three heights (2896 mm, 2591 mm, 2438 mm).

Folding National Standard

Governments formulate their own container standards according to international standards and taking into account their own specific conditions.

External dimensions, limit deviations and rated weights of various types of containers in China's current national standard "External dimensions and rated weights of containers" (GB1413-2008).

Folding Area Standard

Standards for such containers are formulated by regional organizations in accordance with the special circumstances of the region, and such containers are applicable only to the region. For example, containers constructed according to container standards established by the European International Railway Union (VIC).

Folding company standard

Some large container shipping companies, according to the company's specific conditions and conditions and formulated container shipping company standards, such containers are mainly used within the company's transport scope. For example, U.S. Land and Sea Company's 35ft container.

In addition, there are many non-standard containers in the world. For example, the non-standard length containers include the 35 ft containers of American Land and Sea Company, the 45 ft and 48 ft containers of President's Shipping Company, the non-standard height containers mainly include 9 FT and 9.5 ft containers, the non-standard width containers 8.2 ft wide containers and so on. Driven by economic benefits, more and more 20ft containers in the world weigh 24ft, and are generally welcomed. With the continuous development of China's economy, China's import and export trade is becoming more and more frequent, so that the use of containers in the market is also more widely used.
